Fundraising Efforts Underway at Northeast Metro Tech

LINENS NEEDED:
Northeast Student Council and SKILLS USA will be hosting a linen and bedding drive to help the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless’ “A Bed for Every Child” program. The organization helps build beds for children coming out of homeless situations to give them beds of their own.
Those who are able to help are asked to donate new full or twin sheets, blankets, comforters and pillows.
The fundraiser will run from Sept. 1 through Oct. 19. Items can be dropped off in the main office.
SHOEBOX RECYCLING:
Freshmen will lead a fundraising initiative, ShoeBox Recycling, to collect gently used shoes that will be donated to those in need.
Did you know that more than 200 million shoes are send to landfills every year and it takes more than 200 years before a sneaker even begins to breakdown in a landfill?
Students can drop off their shoes in the designated ShoeBox Recycling boxes. Each person who donates will be able to leave a note in their shoes to connect with their “sole mate” — the person in another country who receives the pair.
The Northeast Class of 2022 will earn 50 cents for each pound of shoes collected. Help them raise money by donating instead of discarding your gently used shoes.
