Tracey O’Brien Promoted to Assistant Superintendent of Northeast Metro Tech

WAKEFIELD — Superintendent David DiBarri is pleased to announce that Northeast Metro Tech’s longtime Administrator of Student Services, Tracey O’Brien, has been promoted to be the school’s new assistant superintendent.

The promotion will take effect on July 1.

Assistant Superintendent O’Brien, who graduated from Woburn High School and currently lives in Wakefield, has worked at Northeast Metro Tech since 2007, when she began her career as a school adjustment councilor. In 2014, she became the Administrator of Student Services.

O’Brien is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker who has a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and Sociology from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Salem State College. She worked in the private sector as a clinician and program manager before joining Northeast Metro Tech.

O’Brien’s new position will include her working closely with Superintendent DiBarri to supervise instructional programs and the district’s collective bargaining agreements, assist with recruitment and hiring, and serving as the district’s collection officer for complaints about bullying and other complaints. She will also oversee Student Services and the admissions department.

“Assistant Superintendent O’Brien has been an asset to Northeast Metro Tech for over 15 years now, and I look forward to seeing her work in this new role,” said Superintendent DiBarri. “Tracey is a gifted educator, and she will continue to strengthen our school with her work.”
