Favorite class: A class I really enjoyed was Honors U.S History with Mr. Kirwin. I was fortunate to have classes with him in both my sophomore and junior years. I have followed his advice throughout my high school experience.
One skill/lesson you’ve learned at Northeast that you’ll take with you: A lesson I learned is to navigate challenges with confidence. Life won't always be easy, but showing up, staying organized, asking for help, and pushing through tough moments builds real strength.
A person who has inspired you to be your best: The person who inspires me to be my best is my mom. She’s the strongest, most resilient woman I know, and her kindness and determination guide me every day. She makes me want to work hard in school, chase my goals, and become someone she is proud of everyday. She is my biggest inspiration.

Plans after graduation: After graduation, I plan to study Business Administration while exploring Marketing and Management. I want to build a strong foundation for my future and grow into beauty marketing and advertising, where creativity and business come together. Culinary seniors and sophomores are excited to be using their new equipment and learning their new space. Grade 9 Exploratory students began practicing their service skills last week. Be on the lookout for more information as Breakheart Bistro plans to begin accepting reservations in the coming weeks. |
The Mock House project is back under construction, bringing multiple career technical programs together for real-world learning. Carpentry students are working on a roof overlay and dormer while framing the interior to include two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a dining room, a family room, and an eat-in kitchen.
Northeast’s new Construction Craft Laborers (CCL) program is also getting involved, with Grade 10 students assembling exterior scaffolding at the Mock House. Their work is helping prepare the site for upcoming hands-on projects in both the Carpentry and Electrical programs.

Northeast’s new Biotechnology program is off to an exciting start. Students are gaining hands-on laboratory experience with DNA, microscopy, microbiology, genetic engineering, and other biotechnology applications while exploring careers in the medical, agricultural, environmental, and industrial fields. |
Dental Assisting is busy settling into its new space. Grade 9 Exploratory students are enjoying their first experiences in the state-of-the-art clinics, while returning students are getting back to work practicing and developing their clinical skills. |
During opening-of-school grade-level assemblies, students received a review of safe bus riding practices and expectations. On Tuesday, September 29, and Wednesday, September 30, all students who ride the bus will participate in emergency bus evacuation drills. These efforts reinforce the importance of safe practices while traveling to and from school by bus. |

Families are reminded to notify Northeast of any changes to a student’s home address or emergency contact information by completing this Google Form. Keeping this information current helps ensure that we can communicate with families and reach the appropriate contacts when needed.

Spirit weeks are back. The two-week format allows all students to participate while in academics and follow the dress code while in shops. All students are encouraged to showcase their Northeast Knights pride by participating. See the schedule below for the themes for Grades 10 and 12 (September 28 - October 2) and Grades 9 and 11 (October 5 - October 9).
We encourage everyone to be creative, have fun, and show their school spirit. Please remember that all attire must be school-appropriate.

Progress reports for Trimester 1 will be posted in Aspen on Friday, October 9. Families are encouraged to have frequent conversations about their student's growth and development to support their ongoing success. The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) has launched the MCAS Family Portal, which allows families to view their student’s MCAS results online. Please see the email sent earlier this week for information on how to access the portal and locate your student’s MCAS registration code in Aspen.

Northeast is committed to fostering a positive school culture, supporting student well-being, and helping students develop the social-emotional and employability skills they need to succeed in school, the real world, and their future careers.
As part of this work, Northeast utilizes a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) to ensure that every student receives appropriate support based on their individual strengths and needs. At Tier 1, all students receive instruction in social-emotional learning (SEL) aligned with the five CASEL competencies: self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making, as well as essential employability skills.
During an upcoming first block class, students will complete a brief (5-10 minute) Schoolwide SEL & Employability Skills Assessment. The assessment will help identify student strengths, measure progress, and determine areas where additional instruction or targeted supports may be helpful. Our goal is to prepare every student for success in school, postsecondary education, the workforce, and life beyond high school.

- Wednesday, September 30: Grades 10 and 12
- Wednesday, October 7: Grades 9 and 11

Cost: The cost for the PSAT is $18 (nonrefundable).
Sign-up Information: Grade 11 students who wish to take the PSAT must sign up using their Northeast email account by Friday, October 2 through this link. After completing the online registration, payment should be submitted to the Business Office on the fourth floor.

🎟 Cost: $25 per ticket ( GoFan, cash, or check made payable to Northeast Metro Tech Student Council) ⏳ Ticket Sales: Monday, September 21, through Friday, October 2 at 2:30 p.m.
Students must pick up a permission slip/event contract during lunches beginning September 21 outlining important information and expectations for students. No tickets will be sold without a signed form.
Important Reminders:
➤ A signed event contract must be submitted to Student Council Co-Advisors Ms. Van Magness or Mr. Fitzgerald to attend.
➤ Tickets will not be sold at the door.
➤ Students must present their Northeast student ID for entry.
➤ Students should dress to impress.
➤ Upon request, students may be asked to empty their pockets and have their belongings checked.
➤ Bags and backpacks are not permitted.
➤ No entry after 6:30 p.m. and no early dismissal before 7:30 p.m. unless preapproved by a dean.
➤ All school rules apply, as outlined in the Student Handbook.
➤ Friday, October 9 is a school day; students are expected to attend school in order to attend the event.
➤ We ask that all parents/caregivers plan to pick up their students promptly at the end of the event. Please plan to arrive at Northeast just before 8:00 p.m.

Shop stores are open for the purchase of dress code clothing. During shop weeks, students are expected to follow the dress code specific to their career technical program to ensure safety and fully participate in learning experiences. Each shop has its own unique online store, with orders being delivered to each family's home.

Students are expected to engage in learning opportunities in each class/shop throughout the school day. Cell phones, smart watches, and smart glasses distract students from participating in lessons, completing assignments, contributing to class discussions, and collaborating with teachers and classmates. Unsanctioned use of personal electronic devices during instructional time is prohibited. All learning spaces, including classrooms and shop areas, are equipped with cell phone holders, where students must place their silenced devices upon arrival. Violations, including unauthorized photographing or video recording, may result in disciplinary action. Students are permitted to use their devices during lunch.
Emergency calls by students should be made in an administrative office, and families should contact the Main Office at (781) 246-0810 for individual student needs. Headphones/earbuds may be used for educational purposes only; otherwise, students should remove them. Bluetooth speakers are not allowed in the building.

After-school academic support is available for all subjects. Students can get the extra help they need, whether it is for a challenging class, test preparation, or Early College courses.
- Sessions are held Tuesday through Thursday in the Career Center from 2:35 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
- Sessions are also available on the last Monday of each month.
- Students can take the 3:30 buses home after the session.
Students are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to get extra help and support their learning.

All students receive one free breakfast and one free lunch each school day. Additional meals and individual items may be purchased with cash, check, or through a LINQ Connect account. Instructions for adding funds to a student’s meal account through the LINQ Connect app, along with frequently asked questions, are available in this document. Students may not carry a negative balance; sufficient funds must be available at the time of purchase.

As we begin our first year in our new school building, we ask for everyone’s help in keeping our learning spaces clean and well maintained. Students may bring water into the building; however, outside beverages, including coffee and energy drinks, are not permitted when arriving at school in the morning. Please finish or dispose of all other outside beverages before entering. We appreciate the cooperation of students and families in helping us take care of our new school. |
For safety reasons, students and visitors are not permitted to ride or bring e-bikes or e-scooters onto school grounds. With bus and vehicle traffic, e-bikes and e-scooters present additional safety concerns. We appreciate everyone's cooperation in helping us maintain a safe campus. |

Ringer's Auto School is offering driver’s education at NEMT. Sessions run throughout the year on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:30-5:30 p.m. Students will be released in time for the late bus, which is available for NEMT students only. Student parking registration opened for members of the Senior Class on Wednesday, August 12. Grade 12 students who complete the Student Parking Application Form (using their Northeast email account) will be added to a registration list. Students in good standing, as approved by their dean, will be contacted in the order the form was submitted to purchase a parking sticker. We aim to make as many spaces available to students as possible.
Please note: The form must be completed using the student's Northeast email account. Students will be required to enter their driver’s license number, vehicle information (make, model, color, and year), and license plate number, and upload a copy of their valid Massachusetts driver’s license and vehicle registration.
Parking spaces reserved for students are located in the Student Parking Lot (see image). This is the same lot used last year. Access the lot by entering Hemlock Road near Wakefield High School and following the same route previously used to access the former Northeast building. The Student Parking Lot will be on your left, just past Landrigan Field.
All student vehicles parked on Northeast Metro Tech property must have a parking sticker properly displayed (affixed to the windshield above the inspection sticker on the passenger side). Detailed student parking information and expectations can be found by viewing this document.

The parking lot across from Landrigan Field (formerly J Lot) is exclusively for Wakefield Memorial High School students. Vehicles parked in this lot without a WMHS hanging placard are subject to towing per the Town of Wakefield.
In the Landrigan Field parking area, only marked spaces may be used. Parking in front of the field gate, within crosswalks, in marked fire lanes, or blocking entrances and exits are subject to ticketing or possible towing.
Parking on Hemlock Road, Farm Street, and surrounding neighborhood streets is allowed unless posted otherwise. Please be respectful by not blocking or partially blocking residential driveways.
All drivers are reminded to operate vehicles safely and remain under 15 mph while on school property.

Bus routes and schedules are available on the NEMT website by selecting Transportation under the Parents & Students tab. Students are encouraged to arrive at their designated bus stop 10–15 minutes before the scheduled pickup time.

Eastern Bus Company is hiring bus drivers at a starting rate of $35.25 per hour with a guaranteed 25 hours per week (2.5 hours in the morning and 2.5 hours in the afternoon). A CDL B with a school bus endorsement is required. If you don’t have one, Eastern Bus Company offers training in Billerica and will assist with testing in exchange for a two-year contract.
Drivers can also earn extra with charters at a rate of $24.00 per hour, with 6 hours guaranteed during the week and 8 hours on the weekend.

Students and parents/guardians have individual accounts with access to different resources, so parents should not share their accounts with their student.
