Parent/Teacher Conferences: Schedule Now with pickAtime

Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held on Wednesday, October 15, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. We will once again use pickAtime, an online scheduling platform, to make booking meetings convenient and efficient. Families can create accounts, book appointments, and request translators if needed.

📅 The scheduling window is open now and will close at 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Wednesday, October 15. If your plans change, please cancel appointments as soon as possible so other families can book those time slots.

📢 A detailed message with instructions (written/video) was sent to Northeast families on Thursday, October 2.

Favorite class: Cosmetology

One skill/lesson you’ve learned at Northeast that you’ll take with you: I have learned how to treat and tend to hair, skin and nails throughout my time here at Northeast. Numerous outside clients have booked appointments with me for haircuts and blow drys. Additionally, I am going out on co-op at a salon on Newbury Street.

A person who has inspired you to be your best: Ms. Santos and Ms. Galatis have definitely inspired me to be my best. If it wasn’t for their excellent teaching and experience, I would not have passed my Cosmetology State Board. I am excited to apply my knowledge to clients in the real world.

Plans after graduation: My plans include working as a hair stylist near or in the city of Boston. I eventually would like to own my own salon which would provide hair and skin care services.

Northeast Students Volunteer at Breakheart Fall Family Festival

On Saturday, September 27, Northeast students supported the Breakheart Fall Family Festival at the Visitor Center in Saugus, helping with family activities and entertainment. Special thanks to Culinary for providing cookies and all students who offering face painting, both of which added to the fun and excitement of the day.

Health Assisting Alumna Shares Her Story with Students

On Tuesday, September 30, Northeast was proud to welcome back Kimberly Ibarra, a Registered Nurse and graduate of our Health Assisting program, as a guest speaker. She shared her journey of earning her RN license and the experiences that shaped her path, offering inspiration and encouragement to current Health Assisting students. Her visit, held in connection with Hispanic Heritage Month, highlighted the importance of perseverance, cultural pride, and the role of career technical education in preparing future healthcare professionals.

Families had the chance to connect with instructors, learn more about the program, and sample the students’ impressive culinary work. The event was a great opportunity to celebrate student learning and showcase the skills they are developing.

Culinary Students Launch Season 3 of Northeast Cooks on Revere TV

Senior Culinary students Courtney Johnstone (Reading), Sophia Greeley (Revere), Isaiah Arrington (Melrose), Sarah Bedoya (Chelsea), and Shayanne Johnson (Woburn) recently recorded the first episode of Season 3 of Northeast Cooks at Revere TV, continuing our ongoing partnership with the station. The episode showcases their culinary skills and features a lesson on preparing a delicious tossed pasta. Click below to watch.
 

Northeast DECA Celebrates School-Based Enterprise Week

From September 29 through October 3, Northeast DECA and Business Technology are proud to join schools nationwide in celebrating School-Based Enterprise (SBE) Week. SBEs are student-run businesses that provide hands-on learning in marketing, management, and entrepreneurship. They allow students to apply classroom knowledge in real-world settings while serving the needs of our school community.

Northeast has the most SBEs of any high school in DECA, with seven active enterprises managed and operated by our talented students, including two launched this year in Early Childhood Education and Metal Fabrication. Each enterprise reflects student creativity, leadership, and teamwork, while building skills for future careers and postsecondary education.

Northeast DECA posted a brief Instagram Story of SBE NE Apparel Co., and with DECA Inc.’s 41,000 followers our video went viral, garnering 9,000 additional views worldwide and showcasing our students and school.

English Language Education Parent Night a Success

On Wednesday, October 1, the English Language Education program hosted an informational meeting for families. Parents were supported with opportunities to ask questions, learn more about the program, and explore ways to assist their children. The evening focused on helping families access information and use technology to stay connected with student and school resources. Ryan Beede Named Boston Herald Player of the Week

Congratulations to junior Ryan Beede (Plumbing, Wakefield), who has been named the Boston Herald Division 5 Player of the Week for two straight weeks. As the Knights’ quarterback, Ryan has led the team to a 3-1 start and leads in rushing yards (380), passing yards (300), and scoring.

Brian Curtis Finishes 8th at MVADA Golf Tournament

Congratulations to senior Brian Curtis (HVAC, Woburn), who competed in the Massachusetts Vocational Athletic Directors Association (MVADA) Golf Tournament at Acushnet River Valley Country Club on Wednesday, October 1. Brian shot a 76, finishing 8th out of 85 golfers from across the state.

School Bus Safety Presentation & Drill

On Tuesday, September 30, students received a review of safe riding practices from SRO Officer Pietrantonio during lunches. Earlier this year, all students who ride the bus also participated in emergency evacuation drills. These efforts emphasize the importance of safety while traveling to and from school by bus.

Progress Reports - Friday, October 10, 2025

Progress reports for trimester 1 will be posted in Aspen on Friday, October 10. Families are encouraged to have frequent conversations about their student's growth and development to support their ongoing success. Please do not hesitate to contact your student’s teacher(s), school counselor, or dean with questions or concerns. Picture Retake Day - Thursday, October 16, 2025

Legacy Studios will be at Northeast for picture retakes (ID photos, not senior portraits) on Thursday, October 16. Retakes are available for students who purchased a photo package or who have not yet had their photo taken. PSAT/NMSQT Test Day - Tuesday, October 28, 2025

On Tuesday, October 28, registered Grade 11 students will participate in the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). Please note that the PSAT will be administered digitally, and test takers must arrive to school with their Chromebooks fully charged.

Students and families with questions should contact the student’s counselor.

Preparation Tips:
Students taking the PSAT are encouraged to prepare by reviewing test information and completing practice tests. A brief preparation video is available, and students can also access Official Digital SAT Prep through Khan Academy.
 

DESE Delays MCAS Family Portal Release

On Thursday, September 25, 2025, the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) announced that the launch of the MCAS Family Portal, originally scheduled for October 1, 2025, has been delayed.

DESE shared the following:

  • “Out of an abundance of caution related to student privacy, the Family Portal will not be released as scheduled on October 1. Districts will be receiving paper and electronic reports as scheduled and should plan on disseminating them as in past years.”

The Massachusetts State Seal of Biliteracy recognizes high school graduates who demonstrate proficiency in English and at least one other language. Testing at Northeast Metro Tech is scheduled for Monday, December 1 through Friday, December 5. View this detailed letter for full information.

After-School Academic Support

After-school academic support is offered for all subjects. Students can get the extra help they need to succeed, whether it’s for a challenging class, test preparation, or Early College courses.

  • Sessions will be held Tuesday through Thursday in the Library from 2:35 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Students can take the 3:30 buses home after the session.
Students are encouraged to take advantage of this great opportunity to enhance their learning.
 
Food services

Student Meals - Breakfast and Lunch

All students receive one free breakfast and one free lunch each school day. Additional meals and individual items may be purchased with cash, check, or through a MySchoolBucks account. Instructions for adding funds to a student’s meal account are available in this document. Students may not carry a negative balance; sufficient funds must be available at the time of purchase.

Cell Phone Policy

Students are expected to engage in learning opportunities in each class/shop throughout the school day. Cell phones and smartwatches distract students from participating in lessons, completing assignments, contributing to class discussions, and collaborating with teachers and classmates. Unsanctioned cell phone/smartwatch use during instructional time is prohibited. All learning spaces, including classrooms and shop areas, are equipped with cell phone holders, where students must place their silenced devices upon arrival. Violations, including unauthorized photographing or video recording, may result in disciplinary action. Students are permitted to use their devices during lunch.

Emergency calls by students should be made in an administrative office, and families should contact Office A at (781) 246-0810 ext. 1644 for individual student needs. Headphones/earbuds may be used for educational purposes only; otherwise, students should remove them. Bluetooth speakers are not allowed in the building.
 

Student Parking - Class of 2026

At this time, parking spaces allotted for students have been filled. Grade 12 students who complete the Student Parking Application Form (using their Northeast email account) will be added to a waitlist. Students in good standing, as approved by their dean, will be contacted in the order of submission if additional spaces become available. We aim to make as many spaces available to students as possible.

Please note: The form must be completed using the student's Northeast email account. Students will be required to enter their driver’s license number, vehicle information (make, model, color, and year), and license plate number, and upload a copy of their valid Massachusetts driver’s license and vehicle registration.

Parking spaces reserved for students are located in sections A and A2 on this image. All student vehicles parked on Northeast Metro Tech property must have a parking sticker properly displayed (affixed to the windshield above the inspection sticker on the passenger side). Attention Student Drivers

The parking lot across from Landrigan Field (formerly J Lot) is exclusively for Wakefield Memorial High School students. Vehicles parked in this lot without a WMHS hanging placard are subject to towing per the Town of Wakefield.

In the Landrigan Field parking area, only marked spaces may be used. Parking in front of the field gate, within crosswalks, in marked fire lanes, or blocking entrances and exits are subject to ticketing or possible towing.

Parking on Hemlock Road, Farm Street, and surrounding neighborhood streets is allowed unless posted otherwise. Please be respectful by not blocking or partially blocking residential driveways.

All drivers are reminded to operate vehicles safely and remain under 15 mph while on school property.

Busing Information

Bus routes and schedules are available on the NEMT website under the Parents & Students tab. Students should arrive at their bus stop 10-15 minutes before the scheduled pickup time.

Parent Drop-off & Pick-up

Mornings can be challenging, with heavy traffic on Farm Street, Hemlock Road, and nearby streets. Students and families are encouraged to leave home early enough for students to be in their homeroom before 7:45 a.m. For everyone’s safety and to keep traffic moving, please pull forward to the triple doors by the gymnasium for drop-off and pick-up.
 

Eastern Bus Company - Drivers Needed

Eastern Bus Company is hiring bus drivers at a starting rate of $34.25 per hour with a guaranteed 25 hours per week (2.5 hours in the morning and 2.5 hours in the afternoon). A CDL B with a school bus endorsement is required. If you don’t have one, Eastern Bus Company offers training in Billerica and will assist with testing in exchange for a two-year contract.

Drivers can also earn extra with charters at a rate of $24.00 per hour, with 6 hours guaranteed during the week and 8 hours on the weekend.

Aspen Student & Parent Portal Information

Families are encouraged to have frequent conversations about their student's growth and development to support their ongoing success. To guide these conversations and monitor student attendance and grades, students and families should log in to Aspen regularly. Students and parents/guardians have individual accounts with access to different resources, so parents should not share their accounts with their student. Students should click the "Sign in with Google" button to access their accounts, while parents should use their assigned username and password.
