Welcome back, faculty, staff, students, and families! We are excited to begin the 2025-2026 school year as our Grade 9 students arrive on Wednesday, August 27, and all students return on Thursday, August 28.
As construction of the new Northeast continues, we appreciate your patience and understanding with any traffic delays or challenges that may arise. Families driving to school are encouraged to leave early in the morning during the first weeks until routines are established. The months ahead promise exciting progress as our new school takes shape.
There are some new updates below, though much of the information was shared in last weekβs newsletter. We encourage families to review it so everyone feels fully prepared for the first days of school.
|
The 25-26 school calendar is available on the NEMT website by selecting the calendar icon. Please note: Winter Break now extends through Friday, January 2, with students and staff returning on Monday, January 5. This reflects a change from the original calendar.

Student parking registration opened for members of the Senior Class on Tuesday, August 12. At this time, all 90 available student parking spaces have been filled. Grade 12 students who complete the Student Parking Application Form (using their Northeast email account) will be added to a waitlist. Students in good standing, as approved by their dean, will be contacted in the order of submission if additional spaces become available. We aim to make as many spaces available to students as possible.
Please note: The form must be completed using the student's Northeast email account. Students will be required to enter their driverβs license number, vehicle information (make, model, color, and year), and license plate number, and upload a copy of their valid Massachusetts driverβs license and vehicle registration.
Parking spaces reserved for students are located in sections A and A2 on this image. All student vehicles parked on Northeast Metro Tech property must have a parking sticker properly displayed (affixed to the windshield above the inspection sticker on the passenger side). Detailed student parking information and expectations can be found by viewing this document.

Publication Opt-Out
FERPA allows NEMT to release certain information about students with parent/guardian consent provided that annual notification has been given and the school does not have on file written denial to release this directory information. Directory information is generally not considered harmful or an invasion of privacy if released. The primary purpose of directory information is to allow NEMT to include information from studentsβ education records in certain school publications. Examples include:
- A playbill, showing a studentβs role in a drama production;
- The annual yearbook;
- Honor Roll or other recognition lists;
- Graduation programs; and
- Sports activity sheets, such as for football, showing weight and height of team members.
Complete the form below only if you would like to opt your student out of publications. Please know that this will impact your student's inclusion (name and photo) in school publications such as the yearbook.
Military Directory Opt-Out
Federal law requires local education agencies (LEAs) receiving assistance under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965, as amended (ESEA), to provide military recruiters, upon request, with the following information β names, addresses and telephone listings β unless parents/guardians have advised the LEA that they do not want their studentβs information disclosed without their prior written consent. NEMT identifies the following as directory information:
- a studentβs name;
- address;
- telephone listing;
- date and place of birth;
- major field of study;
- dates of attendance;
- class;
- degrees;
- honors and awards; and
- post-high school plans.

In the first week of school, students will be provided a paper copy of the 2025-2026 Parent Sign-Off Form. This form covers two important acknowledgments:
-
Google Workspace for Education - Grants permission for your student to use school-provided Google accounts (Gmail, Docs, Classroom, etc.) that support assignments, communication, and digital skills.
-
Student Handbook - Confirms that you have reviewed the NEMT Student Handbook, available on our website under the Parents & Students tab, and understand the policies and expectations it contains.
It is essential that a parent/guardian signature is provided so that students may fully access the schoolβs digital tools and be guided by the policies outlined in the handbook.
Please sign the form and have your student return it to their homeroom teacher by Thursday, September 4, 2025. For any questions, contact our Main Office at (781) 246-0810.
|
As a reminder, Northeast students are expected to engage in summer reading by completing one assigned book, with the goal of keeping their skills sharp, strengthening literacy, and fostering a lifelong love of reading. All students must also complete a related assignment, which will be graded, prior to the start of the 2025-2026 school year. Click here to view a letter with details for each grade level.
Please do not hesitate to contact English and History Department Head Lou DelGaudio atΒ ldelgaudio@northeastmetrotech.comΒ or by phone at 781-246-0810 ext. 1307 with any questions.

Student schedules are available in the Aspen student and parent portals. Students and parents/guardians have individual accounts with access to different resources, so parents should not share their accounts with their students. Students should click the "Sign in with Google" button to access their accounts, while parents should use their assigned username and password.
Please note that Grade 9 and newly enrolled students will not be able to sign in to Aspen until the first day of school. Parents of these students can view schedules through the parent portal using the same account created during registration.
For questions regarding a studentβs schedule, please contact your studentβs counselor. Families needing Aspen support should email nex2@northeastmetrotech.com for assistance.

We look forward to welcoming our Class of 2029 on their first day at Northeast Metro Tech. With support from Peer Mentors, Grade 9 students will explore the building, visit instructional spaces, meet faculty and staff, and receive important information to support their success throughout the school year.
Freshman Orientation will run from 7:45 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Upon arrival, students should go directly to the cafeteria.Β Breakfast and lunch will be served. In the morning, students will be called alphabetically by last name to the gymnasium to have their student ID photo taken. During A Block (which also serves as homeroom), they will receive their Chromebook and two shop t-shirts. In the afternoon, students will be provided instructions for logging into their Google, Clever, and Aspen accounts.
On Thursday, August 21, Grade 9 families received an informational email from Dawon Dicks (ddicks@northeastmetrotech.com). Students should note their individual student ID and homeroom information included in that message.

|
Please note that the first day of school for all students is Thursday, August 28. Students are reminded to arrive on time and prepared for learning.
|
Bus routes and schedules are available on the NEMT website under the Parents & Students tab. Students should arrive at their bus stop 10-15 minutes before the scheduled pickup time.

Mornings can be challenging, with heavy traffic on Farm Street, Hemlock Road, and nearby streets. Students and families are encouraged to leave home early enough for students to be in their homeroom before 7:45 a.m. For everyoneβs safety and to keep traffic moving, please pull forward to the triple doors by the gymnasium for drop-off and pick-up.

Students are expected to engage in learning opportunities in each class/shop throughout the school day. Cell phones and smartwatches distract students from participating in lessons, completing assignments, contributing to class discussions, and collaborating with teachers and classmates.Β Unsanctioned cell phone/smartwatch use during instructional time is prohibited. All learning spaces, including classrooms and shop areas, are equipped with cell phone holders near the teacherβs desk, where students must place their silenced devices upon arrival. Violations, including unauthorized photographing or video recording, may result in disciplinary action. Students are permitted to use their devices during lunch.
Emergency calls by students should be made in an administrative office, and families should contact Office A at (781) 246-0810 ext. 1644 for individual student needs. Headphones/earbuds may be used for educational purposes only; otherwise, students should remove them. Bluetooth speakers are not allowed in the building.
|
|
Families are encouraged to have frequent conversations about their student's growth and development to support their ongoing success. To guide these conversations and monitor student attendance and grades, students and families should log in to Aspen regularly. Students and parents/guardians have individual accounts with access to different resources, so parents should not share their accounts with their student. Students should click the "Sign in with Google" button to access their accounts, while parents should use their assigned username and password.
For support using and navigating Aspen, take a moment to review the Aspen Parent Portal Information document and video, which can also be found under the Parents & Students tab on the NEMT website. Families in need of Aspen support should contact us at nex2@northeastmetrotech.com.
