Summer Transition Program Update

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Hello, in a few short days your child will be walking into the halls of Northeast Metro Tech as incoming freshmen! Rest assured when I tell you that our teachers are just as eager to start the year as you and your children are! Jeffrey Riley, The Commissioner of the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, has recently lifted all restrictions for schools for the 2021-2022 school year. with the following statement from:

https://www.doe.mass.edu/covid19/on-desktop/covid19-guide-updates.pdf

“With the State of Emergency ending June 15, 2021, and as COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations, and deaths continue to fall as vaccination rates increase, for the fall, all districts and schools will be required to be in-person, fulltime, five days a week and all DESE health and safety requirements will be lifted. This includes all physical distancing requirements”.

After careful consideration from reading the DESE guidelines, as well as listening to Governor Charlie Baker speaking on the matter, it will be our policy that masks would be recommended, but not required  to be worn by unvaccinated students and teachers for the Summer Program. I feel confident that we have the space to allow for distancing where need be, and we strongly encourage staff and students to regularly practice good hand hygiene and stay home when sick.

Please Note:

Students who are taking the bus to and from school will be required to wear a mask while on NE Transportation.

Any questions or concerns, please call me at 781-246-0810 extension 1649 or  via email: jobrien@northeastmetrotech.com

Thank you and have a good day,

Mr. Joseph O’Brien

Summer Transition Director
