DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America)

DECA prepares students in marketing, finance, hospitality and management. Students practice key leadership skills such as goal setting, consensus building and project management through competitions that are either role-play based or presentations of written papers.

In-School Internship Working in School Store

Students working in the school store are responsible for maintaining inventory, assisting customers, completing sales transactions, handling cash, and balancing daily sales receipts. 

In-School Internship Working at Reading Co-Operative Bank

Basic teller training including: transactions processing, branch security, BSA/FDIC regulations, customer service standards, knowledge of bank products and services. The banking program also teaches financial literacy.  Hours completed can be applied toward the 2,000 hour banking apprenticeship.

Carpentry 3 Year Certification and Technical training in: comprehensive tool safety, house building and remodeling program, methods and styles of construction, all aspects of industry, construction techniques, building and finishing materials, dimension layout and calculation, blueprint reading, window and door installation, foundation layout, entry-level house framing, and interior/exterior finish work.

Debate Club:  Northeast Metro Tech HS

The Debate Club is composed of students that practice argumentative strategies, rebuttals, and competitions.

Skills USA:  Northeast Metro Tech HS Chapter

National student organization which holds competitions at the state and national level. Skills USA encourages a strong work ethic and an opportunity for students to learn more about their strengths in their trade/career areas.

Student Council

The Student Council is composed of elected student representatives from each of the four classes who assist with school activities and provide experience in leadership and encourage student involvement.

Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD)

The Northeast Chapter of S.A.D.D. works to promote safe decisions regarding drug and alcohol use, and safe driving. Students are involved in peer training activities and are planning positive events that students can be involved in without peer pressure to use drugs or alcohol.

Equality Club

The Equality Club was established to create a safe and inclusive environment for all of our students.   

Drama Club  

The Drama Club is for students in grades 9-12 with interests either being on stage or behind the scenes. Members of the club work all year to develop a one act play that is performed in the Massachusetts Education Theater Guild’s Drama Festival Competition.

STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Club

STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Senior Academy:  Competitive academy offered senior year which focuses on engineering and STEM programming.

Chorus

Vocalists of all levels are welcome to come to the Northeast Chorus where we learn warm-up and training techniques appropriate to our wide variety of musical genres.

Peer Mentor Program

Peer mentor program which provides support to our freshmen students as they transition to high school including: running the first day program, helping with curriculum, training through the year to do student presentations.

School Newspaper

The Northeast Newspaper Club publishes at least three editions of our school newspaper, Knight Vision, every school year. The publication includes journalism, photography, creative writing, political commentary, historical reflections, and anything that springs from the minds of our student club members. Newspaper club members also layout the newspaper using state-of-the-art design software and print it on a digital printing press. A staff advisor and several staff volunteers educate, guide, and assist the students as needed, but students take the lead in bringing news and art to their school community.

Yearbook Committee

Students work with advisor and student body to: obtain, edit, and organize photos to yearbook website.  They also create and design pages, place photos and proofread text before they have to meet their deadlines and hit print.
